Well. Time is doing it's thing as usual and it's almost back to school time already. Which means fall isn't far behind! Time to start my yarnwork again. I knit and crochet so I just sum it up into yarnwork. I just finished a project a few days ago and I LOVE IT. My cousin is having a baby girl in September and I thought I would make her something for the winter! This is my first attempt at this kind of project so I was thrilled with how it came out!! Yeah. The photo isn't great quality as it was taken with my cell phone but I don't think much is lost in translation. I did create this pattern myself. Last year I made a hood for myself {Which I love and I'm currently adding a scarf to it} so I kind of just went with that and measured along the way. It's just basic SC all the way, except that I used a foundationless start to get the pretty ruffle effect around the front rim of the hood and the bottom of the scarf. This piece was very simple and I finished it in just a few hours. I hope she will love it just as much as I do!! And while we're on the topic of yarnwork.. I think it's almost time for me to setup a goal sheet to get things done for Christmas time!! I love making things for my family. Although everything hasn't turned out perfectly.. it's given me the opportunity to practice and hone my skills. So far I've made beanies, scarfs, hoods, arm warmers, headbands and a few other things. I haven't made any "large" pieces yet. I do have a few requests for afghans. Just haven't jumped on that yet. I've also made a few handbags too. Those are pretty easy. I use my loom a lot too for some of these things. The loom is nice because you don't have to worry about counting stitches or rows you can just watch tv and loom away. Last year I did purchase a scarf loom that I haven't used yet. I should make it goal to try that baby out this year. I will definitely have to do some research though.. I will have to learn a new cast on method. Currently I just use the ewrap method.
Anyway. Are there any fellow yarnworkers out there? What are you making for the fall/winter? I hope you enjoyed my sweet but short post today! Have a super week! VintageModMom
