Hello hello! Welcome! I have a very pretty adventure to share with you today! My very first cookie cake! Okay so this time I didn't really start with a sketch because I had no idea how I was going to sketch the idea I had, so I just had to trust what was in my brain with this one. This cookie cake was hand cut using a template... I made mini diamond cookies from a mini heart cutter. My shoe and diamond cutters were actually made by me with one of those "make your own cutter" sets. That was pretty cool. I'm a messy impulsive artist though so the documentation of the process is kinda messy but I might share it anyway idk... we'll seeeeee... Anyway on with this set! A big set of firsts in this set for sure... Because the C's were hand cut they didn't fit together very well lol I made 3 of them just in case one broke and I managed to find 2 that fit pretty close... I probably could have done something about the stacking situation but for some reason I hadn't fully considered everything involved so I just improvised and moved on lol. Shiny shiny! I did a little bit of wet on wet watercolor and added some silver splashes. I had fun with the diamonds. Also when I was making my cookie cutters I made one big shoe and one smaller shoe (as you will see soon) but I didn't realize I made them facing opposite directions. Not a huge deal I could easily flip the shoe before baking but I actually like that it ended up that way, or that I did it that way because I wasn't paying attention as I was making them LOL. Oh well.. Happy accidents lol More painting... Painting is always done (when I do it) with clear vanilla extract and food coloring OR edible luster dust for the metallics. And now onto the beloved 1M tip!! I've only used it one other time and man I was not prepared for how much I was going to love these little roses... ALSO... We all know I like to talk about lighting... I'm ALWAYS fighting with lighting because I want the audience to see as I see... which is impossible from the start because not only do our eyes see differently than the next person but I took the picture on my phone so it's filtered through one device with filters or color corrections or whatever lighting is available... and then they're uploaded onto my computer which is another device and then finally it's filtered through the audiences devices and then the audiences eye holes. So it's a long journey... Getting even decent pictures (that everyone would agree are decent) is honestly a miracle so getting "perfect pictures" is actually a joke. But please enjoy all my attempts to find the proper lighting to convey how pretty the purple roses actually are.... These bottom three photos above this text, are the result of cloudy day light and the attempt to represent the purple... it was almost impossible but regardless my little cookie cake was freaking gorgeous and at this point I didn't even want to continue LOL. I had plans... You saw up there.. I'm gonna put the little shoe on it and some little gem stones and ooo look that's right I still have flowers!!! But noooo now I have to cover the pretty roses UGH.... LOL Y'all I seriously had to take like a 30 minute break just to make peace with covering up the roses and I don't think I even glued them on until the next day LOL. Moving On....So now just to finish up the extra cookies... the shoes and the gemstones! I'm pretty happy with how the my cutters came out and they are pretty sturdy... At this point nothing is glued on still lol BECAUSE... The heels are pretty and all but they just don't scream GLAM to me... So I had to go add some glam... This lighting thing is fascinating... My kitchen has much warmer lighting as you can see above the shoes in my workspace are much warmer.. almost like a red violet... while the pictures in front of the window in my dining room are more true to color. Look how beautiful!! My 1st Cookie Cake!Annnnd the finished product was pretty beautiful!!! I really loved this little set!! I wish I would have done a better job of showing scale because it's not that big at all... There is a terribly lit picture of me holding it the night before as I was boxing it up... It does fit in your hand so although it's mighty it is quite small lol It's adorable and gorgeous though and my MIL absolutely loved it!!! All boxed up..I really enjoyed sharing this experience!
I don't know if I'll be doing anymore cookie cakes in the future but this was fun... Thank y'all for coming by!!! Much Love AmandaIRL
