Hello hello! So today I am sharing my Father's Day Cookie sets! They are Classic Rock themed! As usual here are my sketches. The first set is the default set. Both my Dad and my Step Dad got that set. The 2nd set was added to Dad's cookies and the third set was for my Step Dad so they each got 10 cookies. I love how these turned out! They are big cookies though and in the future I will make them thicker. I think one of them broke in transit. I think the Pink Floyd cookie was one of my favorite cookies even though it did take a while to make it. I had to wait for each color to dry individually. Okay so... the Blueblockers were also one of my faves of the set. They turned out so cool! I just used some food coloring and a little bit of the Bakell Egyptian Gold. Really cool stuff. I also used the Gold on the stars but not with food coloring.. just with vanilla extract. Oddly enough the KISS cookies ended up being the easier of the two extra sets. The tongue was just made with some extra fondant I froze from Jaxon's birthday cupcakes. The leftover was just gonna go in the trash anyway because I rarely use fondant so it worked out that I had some leftover and I think, even though it's kinda tacky it still works... I don't mind that it's kinda silly haha. The REO Speedwagon cookie was an absolute disaster but I literally could not find an REO Speedwagon cookie anywhere on the internet so I think I managed to limp through okay. It went through many phases though as you will soon see. Same with "The Wall" cookie. I actually ended up doing that one over. You will see all that in the post as well. Now onto the next phase of this adventure... Okay so New cutters. New experience. New lesson. When I use the guitar cutter again I will make sure I make a thicker cookie. It actually broke as I was bagging it up so there was no do overs happening. I just glued it back together. Oddly enough it managed not to rebreak in the mail but the other one did break in the mail so.. they both broke.. Oh REO Speedwagon. My goodness. I'm actually okay with how it turned out considering what I had given myself to work with. I made up some food coloring water color and was able to make it look semi decent I guess... The good news is.. it will still taste good.. Now on to the next redo. A successful redo though. I am so glad I decided to do this cookie over because it didn't take long and it turned out much much better AND I got to keep a cookie for myself haha.. I did have this song stuck in my head for 2 days straight though. ....and there you have it!
All bagged up and boxed up. I had to take an extra picture to get the entire sets. June was a pretty crazy month considering I did Jaxon's cupcakes, a small set of cookies for hubby's niece, a small set of cookies for hubby's gramma and 2 sets each for my dad and step dad. I had a BUSY month of cookie making and decorating. Packing and sending is always my least favorite part so I get it done immediately. I was boxing them up forgetting that I try to get pictures of the sets and sometimes I like to wait until the morning to get good sunlight. Anyway I didn't realize I didn't have pictures of the full sets. But it was a fun set and I think it went well! I probably won't mail any cookies during the summer months.. not only is it more difficult to make cookies in this heat and humidity but I feel like they also kinda soften up in the boxes and break easier in the mail. I didn't even want to do this post for a while because I was so irritated that I had cookies break. Once it gets about 20 degrees cooler I'll start mailing them off to family again. As for now I'll be making for friends and family locally and I'll be testing out new recipes! I will definitely be posting them so stay tuned for that! Thanks for stopping by! Much Love Amanda
