Heyyyyy!!!So this is cool right? I have another set to share with you! This set is pretty specific. I made it for my Dad. Anybody who's known my Dad, probably ever, would look at these and know exactly who they're for LOL. They came out pretty awesome and there were a few more challenging elements.. So let's see how I conqured this eh? My goodness. This sketch is ROUGH. Hahahaha. Truth be told after the winter break I was ready to start a new set so I had this idea in my head for a while. I just needed to get it down on paper and I did it really fast. My brother actually helped me make it cooler. Siblings are cool sometimes. haha. Anyway. That's the sketch. Let's do this thing. First of all, I don't have a super spiffy Hot Wheels style fire-breathing wheel. So I had to make one. With a circle and a leaf. I also altered one of my plaque cutters for the balloons. Lastly I had to make a full pair of shoes. I just want to say. Checkerboard patterns are hard. And this is the where the saying "color outside the lines" came from. (in my opinion) This entire cookie came out pretty rough. I think it's the dud of the group really. Sometimes that's how it goes though. My new white edible pens are AMAZING though. Absolute game changer. This cookie went through some things. I kept improving on it. Okay so it's not my favorite of the bunch but that's okay. I wish I would have made the numbers bigger. I need to practice making most of my text a bit thicker. Consistency is hard though. I'm still struggling with that every now and again. Goals for the future! Always love those! I couldn't decide on a border either and even now I still don't know if I would have liked it better. Let's move on the balloons! It is really difficult to put details on ALL WHITE shoes. I am loving every shoe that I create though. They are just FUN! This whole "white shoe" thing is because my Dad is a very routine and economical dude as far as fashion goes. He's worn white Reebok since before I was born and that's ALL he wears, especially to the track. Everybody started calling him "white shoes". So that's what his license plate says. Now we're back to part 2&3 of checkboards are hard LOL. I think the flags came out really well. I was happy with them. I have no idea what I was doing when I was taking pictures though. I don't understand why I grouped my flag process with the tire but whatever... here we are. TaDa!! Not bad. Actually quite good. I should have done this same procedure with the 57 cookie... But hey that's a pretty quick learning curve if I do say so myself. Although, it was a tad easier seeing how the flag is kinda waving so the squares don't need to be even. In fact, it's better that they're not. I guess I wanted to do tires after the flag so here we are LOL. These were so fun!! And look at me go with that wet-on-wet. Told you I'd be using that technique more often. I think these tires are my favorites of the set. They came out SO COOL. I'm not a Drag Car-ologist by any means but I will keep trying to make my Dad's car. Last year I painted it, and the year before that was my first EVER cookie set so it was pretty rough hahaha but it's cool to see that I am making some progress. Upon further inspection I decided to clean up the bottom. Luckily, looking at my Dad's car there is actually an extra strip like that under the door anyway so it actually just made it more realistic! Woohoo! Before we go into the "photoshoot" section I want to go ahead and post some pictures of the process. I missed some details and I noticed I didn't even really get close ups of the tire tracks (I wasn't sure about those but they came out as a great edition to the set) Process:I was feeling very insecure about my tire tracks but they look good with the set. All that's left is photoshoot! PhotoshootWAIT! THERE'S MORE!Haha. So remember how I said I started making extras because folks have a hard time eating my creations? Well as I was doing these I already knew my Dad was gonna call and ask how he's supposed to eat these cookies LOL. My Dad loves cookies, so I made some extra minis. YAY BALLOONS! Easily devoured balloons. Haha. Okay now we can wrap this up. Extra Note:I always share my experiences in hope of inspiring others to try things they wouldn't normally try. Nowadays, I feel like people tend to give up much easier on things and don't even give themselves time to become awesome at anything. But becoming awesome (sometimes) takes time... I'm not saying I'm awesome yet, but I feel like I'm on my way. I've impressed myself a few times and I think more people should do that. It brings a lot of joy to your life when you start to realize what you're capable of. With all that being said, I wanted to share my set from just 2 years ago. That was my very FIRST set of decorated cookies. Crazy enough that set is up on this website. You can go see it RIGHT HERE. Thank you SO MUCH for joining me on this crazy ride!
I hope to see you again! Much Love, Amanda
