Monday is coming again and I'm already feeling the dread but here are 5 ways to help you get organized and feel more prepared for the week ahead! What else can be done to help prepare for the week?
As for me I'm also finishing any laundry that needs to be done, pre-packing and preparing what I can for lunches for my son (kindergarten) and my husband for the week, making sure the kitchen is cleaned and ready for the morning rush! I also already put gas in the car so I can be prepared to take and pick up my son from school and run any other errands throughout the week. I hope these tips help you have a successful week! Thanks for stopping by! VintageModMom Our only little man is off to Kindergarten... it's day 2.
Hence why I have been so scarce lately.. getting used to all this newness. New early wake up times.. new things to be packed and prepped.. new traffic to avoid haha. Yup. Lots of new things. And of course.. amongst all this the trillion dollar question keeps popping up... "So now that your son is off to school what are YOU going to do all day?" "Are you going to get a job and help your husband now?" Welp. Sorry my most loving fans who seem to care so much about what I am doing but nope... I am not going to work outside the home. Honestly I really need to find a way to let all these other opinions go. Because the only opinions that really matter are mine and my husbands. Furthermore... I am perplexed by the thought that since my child has gone off to Kindergarten that my role as a sahm/housewife/homemaker is now obsolete. As if the needs of my household have somehow dissipated just because my son is in school for 7 hours. The truth is when I decided to be a homemaker it was a lifetime decision. Homemaking is my career. The chances of me ever working outside the home again are slim to none. The truth is... I don't enjoy the rat race of going off to some job or career etc.. However.. my husband does enjoy his work... We both made this decision for our family.. I stay home and manage all the household affairs.. as well as anything that our child may need during his school years and really anytime I'm the mom after all.. Now I know... I am totally irk-ing the whole feminist community right now... However... I don't see how choosing to be a career homemaker as well as having the free time to do pretty much whatever I please (within reason) is viewed so poorly. I realize these days not everyone is able to stay at home... (If you are reading this and you do wish that you could stay home I hope that you find a way to do so... nowadays with technology excelling the way it is lots of companies are starting to hire sahm's.. for instance Mindvalley and Hertz are two to boot) I do consider my career a luxury. Wait a minute? So you're saying... you find it luxurious to stay at home and do laundry and dishes all day? Ha. Yeah that's it... lol. No. But it's nice to have all that done before my hubby and son return home.. laundry done.. dishes done.. house clean.. which leaves more time for us to spend together as a family. Cleaning does not consume the entirety of my day. Once I get the house put back together then the key is just daily maintenance and the rest of my time is spent on my hobbies or other side tasks that help our family. I help cut out A LOT of over head expenses. I cook most our foods from scratch which is not only more cost effective but I also know that my family is eating more healthy which is important. We also realized that it would actually be MORE expensive for me to return to work.. considering the gas, vehicle wear and tear, wardrobe, lunches.. and if I was working full time then I'd have to PAY someone to watch MY son after school while I'm working for paycheck that I'm pretty much just going to give away... it's just not reasonable for us. I want to be able to be there for my son when he comes home from school.. I want to be there to prepare a hot meal and help with homework or anything else he may need. In addition one of our careers (most likely mine) would have to go on the back burner anyway when our son does need something like maybe he gets sick or needs something brought to school etc.. it's just easier if one of us is available to be there for him.. Since everyone is so interested as to what I am doing all the time here we go... here's what I do in a nutshell and the list is always growing. Drop off/Pick up son from school. General cleanliness of household + chores (not going to go into detail there we all know the things that must be done around the house...) Scheduling Appointments Running Errands Menu Planning Couponing Grocery List & Shopping Preparing and Cooking all meals (I cook EVERYTHING from scratch... well so far everything except pop tarts.. that is my next venture... but waffles, pancakes, bread, rolls, buns, biscuits, potatoes-hash browns, french fries-any potato you can think of, cream-of soups & other sauces, gravy, granola, I use dried rice and beans-the list goes on) Monthly Budgetting Paying all bills Knit/Crochet (Gifts for holidays and things to be sold on Ebay store) Blogging & Writing Gardening Volunteering (My son's school) Web Design There are also other things that I want to pursue now that my son is in school.. Sewing.. soap making.. along with lots of other crafting. My pinterest has it all laid out for me hahahaha. Just kidding I totally have lists. You guys already know... well those of you who are here often KNOW me and my lists. I love being able to have the freedom to pursue my hobbies and interests. I am forever thankful for my husband for handling the monetary part of our household needs while I provide the household needs... and of course live the artists life haha. This allows us to have more time together as a family both in the evenings and on the weekends. We don't have to spend that time catching up on housework or trying to run errands because we weren't able to do so during the week. So that is pretty much it and I stand by it. We are happy with our career decisions and it works for us... And what works for one may not work for all.. But that is the answer to the trillion dollar question that everyone seems to want an answer to. So what did she win Johnny? Well even though this was just a huge defense against my decision to stay at home I have gained some peace. Peace knowing that I am an individual and I DON'T have to do what the masses are doing. I suppose I should say WE are individuals.. because my hubby sure isn't anything like the masses either haha... I always always always have things to do.. I am a creative mind and I embrace it. I have to-do lists that have to-do lists hahaha. I love having the time to work on myself as well.. to do research and continue to learn every single day. To continue to grow. I hope that has given you all some insight and the good news is... I'm here to stay folks! And the best part is I'll be sharing our journey with all you lovely readers!! I truly appreciate you stopping by! Hope you have a super day! VintageModMom Holy snap it's August!
Well I'm not going to lie. I have been super unproductive this weekend. It does happen after all. I guess really I've only been unproductive by my own standards... I tried all weekend to get my gears turning but it was like there was no one home lol. I don't know why but sometimes my brain just doesn't work at all... I try to put thoughts together and inspire myself but it just didn't happen.. I stared at blank screens... but it is what it is. I figure this means that I am just burned out AND my kid is about to start school so maybe I actually need the rest. ANYWAY. Let's talk about August! So AUGUST is Golf Month! I can't believe that August is only National Golf Month you'd think they'd have something for back to school I don't know.. just seems pretty boring if you ask me haha but that's all I could find on that. But I love finding little ways to #CelebrateToday so let's see what else we can find! Some of the "National Days" coming up are as follows: 3rd: Watermelon Day 6th: Root Beer Float Day 8th: Happiness Happens Day 10th: Smore's Day 12th: Middle Child's Day 13th: Left-Handers Day 14th: Creamcicle Day 17th: Thrift Shop Day 20th: Lemonade Day AND Chocolate Pecan Pie Day 21st: Spumoni Day AND Poet's Day 25th: Kiss and Make Up Day 26th: Women's Equality Day 27th: Burger Day 28th: Bow Tie Day 30th: Toasted Marshmallow Day 31st: Trail Mix Day So these are kinda just my favs, there are more and you can find the full breakdown HERE. |
