Hey!! Yes. I live lol. So things have been busy but everything is going well! The garden is flourishing (mostly)... pretty sure my peas aren't going to make it buuut I'm not upset.. this is our trial run and my squash, lettuce, carrots, peppers and green beans seem to be doing pretty fantastic!! I'm very impressed!! Anywho just wanted to post a swift update.
You guys know how summer is.. We had a good July 4th.. It rained the whole weekend but we still had a blast! Hubby still managed to grill and by the eve of the 4th it was dry enough out that we were able to shoot off fireworks with the rest of the neighborhood! We had a good time that's for sure! Speaking of time.. My kid is starting Kindergarden next month so let the games begin! School shopping is about to begin! And before you know it the holiday season will be here and we'll all be screaming Happy New Year! And making new goals/resolutions.. But let's back up. lol. It's only July! Hubby and I have been working on our vision boards for the last half of the year! Definitely excited to share our efforts on those.. I also want to redesign the blog.. Since my kid is starting school my blog will change a bit as I am changing.. I'm going to be working on learning how to sew again! I have a machine ready to be used!! Pretty excited. I've started making a list for after my son starts school so I'm not sitting around feeling sorry for myself.. who has time for that anyway? I guess I have fallen off the blogging train since my camera was destroyed.. lol. Kids right? But I need to get over myself and be thankful that I still have a device to take photos with... "Do the best you can with what you have" No idea who said it originally but I definitely need to get on board... Anywho just wanted to update all my lovely followers/fans/friends and let you all know I'm still here with 8 million tabs open in my brain! I suffer from procrastifection... I procrastinate until it's perfect which is never.. Which is why this is the first time I've posted in 3 months because waaaa I don't have a super awesome camera.... Yup.. gotta get over myself that is for sure! Although I think I have done some Motivational Monday posts.. Hmm... I've started to miss those... are you guys missing those?? I've done pretty well with offering up new menus weekly.. Maybe not every week.... but I do have a rather large collection already! I didn't even realize it until I looked through my own blog the other day lol I was like wow.... I have a lot of stuff on here hahaha But that's great!! That means my blog can still be useful even if I'm not updating every hour. hahaha. But rest assured more is coming.. I have already made some "family time" print outs that I plan to offer shortly.. I want to finish up the post before I get too much ahead of myself. Anywho! Love you all! Have a fantastic weekend!! MMMuuuuah VintageModMom

How goes it everyone! Hope your Easter was good! It was like Christmas morning for our kid lol we went overboard... oh well!! We don't tend to buy him much because he has so many awesome grandparents that also want to spoil him to bunches.. sigh.. #OnlyChildProblems haha. Hubby normally does the Easter shopping but this year I did it... When I got to the store I felt like I was in the twilight zone omg so much candy everywhere.. for some reason it's much different than Halloween candy idk.. Regardless I love it all. I brought the candy home last weekend and split his up so we could have half.. he doesn't need ALL the candy.. well 2 nights later it was gone............ Hey... hubby helped lol. But yes Easter.. What a beautiful day for it too!! We decided to sit outside on the back porch with our big blanket and have a picnic lunch! It was really nice.. And tonight we will have steak, a pasta side dish, broccoli.. maybe some homemade biscuits or rolls haven't decided yet.. when I made my menu last week I didn't think about Sunday being Easter at the time.. so I laughed when I saw that I put chicken nuggets and french fries.. wow real classy for an Easter dinner.. lol. OHH well no biggy it is solved! And Easter has been accomplished! He woke up to his baskets from the Easter bunny and basically had candy for breakfast.. Then we dyed eggs and we did an inside Easter Egg Hunt for him.. that was really fun... I bought one set of glittery eggs and we put special prizes in those.. I got a set of 3 mini thomas the train engines he was excited to find them!! Lol the green glittery ones had money in them.. the others had mini candy bars.. it was pretty awesome. Little dude is happy so that's all I care about! Annnnywho. I suppose since Easter has come and tomorrow is Monday it's time to get serious about the spring cleaning...
NOOOOOOOO!!!! lol. I know things are going to get much messier before they're tidy and organized but it's just one of those things I suppose... I do have a list already but I need to go ahead and finalize zones and areas.. I don't know if it's part of some sort of procrastination technique that I have come to rely on or what but I have to write things down first.. get it on paper and organized a certain way before I feel comfortable starting certain tasks.. So I need to get everything down on paper so I feel like I have a game plan. Things hardly ever go as planned but you know it's always good to have something to fall back on just in case lol as you will see I do repeat meals on my menus somewhat often because there are times I don't end up making dinner or we end up doing something quick.. sometimes you just have to make the shift. And speaking of making shifts lol.... As I went to make my meal plan I suddenly remembered that hubby won't be home for dinner from Wednesday until Sunday... so that kind of put a damper in my menu process but I adapted... So for Monday and Tuesday we are going to have our regular family meals and then Wednesday through Sunday we're going to have Kid Friendly Dinners!! Seems only fair that since hubby isn't going to be joining us for dinner that I change it up a bit for little man.. and myself.. I'm really not too picky these days.. I could eat cereal for dinner and feel just fine about it lol. So without further ado here is my adapted menu for the week: Monday: BBQ Chicken Pizza {Didn't make this last week} Tuesday: Chicken Bowls + Homemade Corn Bread Wednesday: Homemade Chicken Nuggets & Mac/Cheese + Peas Thursday: Taco Quesadillas Friday: Pizzadillas or Mini Pizza Calzones {No Yeast Dough} Saturday: Baked Crispy Ranch Chicken & Green Beans + Baby Carrots & Ranch Sunday: Pizza Pasta w/ Ground Beef & Homemade Garlic Bread {Tentative Hubby's Schedule} So that was our Easter and now I'm planning for tomorrow and the rest of this busy week to come!! Hope you all have a great night! Happy Easter VintageModMom
Along with all these other exciting events today I also must double check the date to register my little man for Kindergarden.
I'm so not ready for him to go to school... super boo!!! I'm having lots and lots of feelings about him starting Kindergarden but regardless of my feelings I really hope he enjoys it. I hope he makes new friends.. I hope he enjoys learning.. I hope he's not bored.. Oh so many hopes for him. I hope that he finds his path.. and that it is a good path.. and that he walks it with his head held high.. I know he's only 4 soon to be 5 but time doesn't waiver so I will make my hopes known before the time to express them has passed. I know we will all adjust.. the change is the thing.. I have to accept the change and be prepared for the chaos that preceeds it. All I can do is be aware and adjust myself accordingly. While also keeping in mind that depending upon how things go we may decide to homeschool him. So we always have that as a side option or something that we are keeping in mind. He's very smart, learns quickly.. He is also very high energy and just as impatient and stubborn as any other 4 soon to be 5 year old.. so.. we each have our challenges all I can do is be aware that all these things are happening and that change is happening.. This will also be a time that I will have to lean on my hubby a bit.. He's much stronger in these circumstances.. he has to leave us every morning so that he can provide and I truly salute him for that.. he's the greatest, granted sending our kid off to school will be very different but I think that he will handle it much better than I will haha.. So that's what's up around here today and lately... PB & J Cookies.. Autism Awareness.. Kindergarden Registration Also our vehicles needed new tags last month (oops) so apparently that's on my immediate to-do list.. YAY I'm so excited... who doens't love the DMV?!? Okay yes. Sarcasm. Shrugs.. I think I'm going to tackle that tomorrow.. {Yup tomorrowland where everything gets done haha} Just going to get all my paperwork gathered today... Plus I have cookies to make.. rain to avoid... and a spring cleaning list to do something with.. seems all I've done with my list is talk about it so far haha... I guess I did say yesterday that I would share my list.. So why not.. I will follow up with pics once the super cleaning begins but MY SPRING CLEANING LIST: Inventory Sewing Supplies Organize Craft Corner {dining room} Organize Cosmetology Supplies {hubby now uses my toolbox} Remove ALL boxes from the house Inventory Items to be Mailed + Mail them Revisit the Office/Guest Room Organization Organize Bedroom Closet Clean Out Breakfast Nook Area Take Baby Clothes to Neighbor Wash Dining Room Wall {Had a hot sauce predicament I did clean it at the time but it needs more work} Clean Oven {Vinegar, Baking Soda, Salt} Clean Out Kitchen {Organize Cabinets etc} Move Things to Attic Yeah so most of my list isn't actually like "deep cleaning" but we just moved into this house in October and it took so so long to unpack everything etc.. I will still do some cleaning but for the most part the house still feels brand new.. I'm sure once I get started my list will expand but so far this is it... How is your spring cleaning going?? What do your lists look like?? Anywho if I'm going to accomplish things today I must get moving!! Thank you for stopping by!! Comments.. emails.. etc always welcome!! Be sure to follow me on FB, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter... I will be posting updates today as I bake my cookies etc. Hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!! Much love! VintageModMom Well I knew it was coming but it seems like it came rather quickly even still lol.
OH wellll.... hey April what is up? So far it's a very very foggy April morning... But the sun is starting to rise and it's starting to burn off. Soooo I guess I need to go ahead and discuss something I've been in serious denial about. I guess it has been about 2 weeks now... but my camera is broken. I KNOW!!!! IT SUCKS SO BAD!!!! However.. I'm already working towards getting myself a new one and I'm going to get a more "professional" grade camera so I can take better photos for life and for the blog =) Plus living where we live now.. omg I could get so many amazing nature shots.. So I'm working towards that.. So.. one woman's devastation is the same woman's upgrade?? Idk. Something.. It does still make my insides hurt when I talk about it though so now that I have admitted that I'm back to using a very dinky cell phone camera let us move along.... LOL. And yes my 4 year old did break my camera... Moving along though I said dang!!! lol. So yesterday I didn't get a whole lot accomplished.. Well. I did get us fed... breakfast.. lunch for me and little man.. hubby is on his own since the office is so far from the house.. and I got dinner done.. Also got the essentials.. laundry and dishes done... But any other tidying up or cleaning? Nada. Except an almost full day of painting with my little man!! And I know that soon... sooner than I wish he will be big enough to handle pouring his own paints.. and so I decided to take that time to be with him.. Because each day is truly special.. I'm only given one shot at that day and I try to the make the most of every one that I get. Although there are still cans and dried goods out from grocery shopping last weekend that haven't been put away yet.. and my house looks like Toys R Us exploded and my house was the debris catcher... this too shall pass... Eventually the groceries will get used if they don't make it to the pantry lol Which... you never know... they may... they may not.. I have no shame over this... it's not like I have frozen food or produce out rotting I put away the things that needed to be kept refrigerated/frozen.. As for the toys.. well.. I'm sure I will miss them one day as well. However... today is not that day haha.. I think if I have to carefully navigate myself through the house for one more day I'm going to lose my mind lol. So after a day of fun & games it's time to get to work!! Work and play are both necessary! Must keep the balance =) I hope you all have a great first day of April! Don't be fooled hehe. Honestly I'll be so relieved once this day is over lol I think tomorrow I will be posting my Spring cleaning list.. *tentatively* I know Easter is Sunday so we shall see what happens.. Much love and thanks for coming by. VintageModMom So what are the goals for April??
I've been working on mine.. trying to stay somewhat on track. I can tell you I still have yet to conquer the sewing machine but it has stayed on my list for many months so I know the time is coming... Okay so as for April... if you got the printable yesterday you will see that April is... Decorating Month Jazz Appreciation Month Inventor's Month Poetry Month Couple's Appreciation Month Straw Hat Month Garden Month Yes. April has so much going for it!! And back to the goals... well... I think I'm going to start out short and sweet this month.. Since Spring is doing it's thing Spring Cleaning is about to happen.. So... Goal #1. Complete Spring Cleaning List Goal #2. Continue Stash Savings (Been taking out extra cash every time I go to WalMart and it's been working out fantastically as an emergency savings for us!) A lot of my goals are carrying over from March.. things I've started that I wish to maintain.. But sometimes it's good that I don't have another huge overwhelming list to look at.. so I think for now I'm going to take it easy on the goals because I know once I get out my spring cleaning list I'm going to faint lol Just lots of things I've been wanting to complete that I haven't. I'm thinking since April is National Poetry Month that I may jump back on that bandwagon. I used to write poetry a lot. It started when I was young and has trickled up here and there through the years but I haven't written in a while so I think I may just do that. I know I didn't list it so #3 Inventory Sewing Supplies and Start Beginner Level Going to pause while I'm ahead and NOT get into a project list.. My crochet/knit project list is already long enough with it's unfinished things...lol. I did find some really amazing printables this morning while I was running around Pinterest and I thought I would share.. to check them out click here!! Lots of goal sheets and radness... I dig her artistic expression!! And you won't regret it because her stuff is awesome! Alrighty well. Hope I have given you some things to think over.. I think I am going to cut this post short today since yesterday's was so massive... I'm pretty proud of me anyway.. 3 posts in a row woot!! Yup just trying to get myself comfortable with writing each day. I think it's working. Well I hope you all have a great Tuesday! Drop me a line or comment or whatever. Much love! VintageModMom
Sooooo much candy... you'd think Halloween would be the big candy holiday but idk Easter candy was pretty amazing.. I think I seriously almost fainted in the candle aisle..
Anyway. I made it out with plenty of jellybeans and chocolately goodies to fill up our son's Easter basket! We also splurged a big because we finally found the Trackmaster Flynn Fire Truck.. It was like a moment straight from Heaven literally... I pulled it out from behind some other box and there it was.. We've been searching for Flynn since his birthday last June so I went ahead and got it for him he is going to FREAK on Easter morning. I was also able to find some glittery eggs that had some red ones {his favorite color is red}. Red is really hard to find for Easter let me tell you.... But I'm going to hide some "golden" chocolate eggs in those and I also got a 3 pack of mini Thomas themed trains that I will hide in those. Pretty excited. I wasn't sure how we were going to make out for Easter but it's looking like we're going to have one very happy little dude. I also got things for hubby and I haha.. ;) Everyone ready for Monday?!
WHAT!? No!?? Pshh.. of course you are! Well. I'm starting the prep already this morning. First things first I have to get to the store today. We need a few things to make the week successful annnnd I need to go ahead and get some Easter things while I have time to go without little man. I have already prepared my menu plan for the week annnd I've started my to-do list for Monday. I love planning my menu ahead of time and since I had to go to the store I had to go ahead and plan it yesterday so I'd be ready to go today. As for tonight we're having spaghetti and meatballs. Thank God it's a beautiful day. Sun is shining. Although old man Winter has returned for a few short days and it's quite chilly out but that's okay. I am already missing my boots and scarves.. I really like fall and winter.. Mostly because I live in the South.. well.. not as far South anymore but still Alabama so it's not like we have the most epic winters but I enjoy them nonetheless. So I am most thankful for the sunshine and blue skies today. Especially since our future forcase is showing chances for rain everyday next week... Gotta love spring!! Well.. you don't have to. Speaking of spring. I have also started my spring cleaning list.. I'm pretty sure it's already out of hand but hey... I'm aware of my ambition lol I'm actually not sure when I'm going to start on my list. I was planning to start on the 1st but what kind of nonsense is it that the 1st is on a Wednesday. Eh.. idk. I will think on that further and let you all know. Also with a new month comes lots of other things liiiike... Monthly goals!! I'm going to have to revisit my March goals and see what needs to rollover to April haha and then I can start my April goals if there's room to start new ones!!! So what else is on the agenda for this Prelude to Monday>>> Well. What are some things are going to make my Monday successful? Hardcore night prepping. Just kidding it's not really hardcore. It's actually just a few simple things. Going to make sure coffee is ready and the alarm is set so I can wake up and my coffee will be there waiting on me =) Going to set up breakfast plates. I always set up breakfast plates the night before.. Seems like something irrelevant but I do my dishes at night and fumbling around for dishes first thing in the morning is not how I like my mornings to go... It works out much better for me if our cereal bowls, plates for egg & avocado and silverware are all laid out already. I also like to go ahead and get Jaxon a juice cup in the fridge so he can easily get to it in the morning. Finish all the laundry or prep so it's ready first thing in the morning. I will address the laundry situation. I like to check and make sure I'm not leaving too much laundry for myself first thing Monday morning... if I do have a load left to do I like to go ahead and get it in the washer so in the morning I just have to add soap and turn it on! Finish Monday to-do list. I like to have my to-do list as ready as possible.. sometimes I add things throughout the day but for the most part if I have my game plan set up the night before it helps my day get started faster and it's more efficient. I can already be aware of any appointments or pain in the butt tasks that I can just take care of first thing. Hmm okay.. so let's see. I think that's about it. I'm trying to see if maybe there's something I forgot but I suppose it really is just a few simple things that I shift to produce a wonderful Monday! Or at least a not horrible Monday! I think this will conclude my Prelude to Monday breakdown. Be sure you visit tomorrow I'm going to have some awesome stuff to keep your future organized! I have finally made Calendars and #CelebrateToday printables.. Which we shall talk about later!! As for now it's about time for some late Sunday breakfast and I gotta get myself moving!! Things to do the world to see and such! I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday with just the right amount of rest and productivity!! Balance is the ticket! Much love all. VintageModMom Well February was pretty fantastic!
One of my favorite months filled with hearts & chocolate.. But now it's time to move forward to spring!! {Hopefully} I know most folks are anticipating some warmer weather! Personally I am not one of those people lol. Since we live in the South it tends to get very very hot here and I'm not rushing it, that's for sure!! Although regardless it is going to come so I just have to accept it and move on forward.. so I will be {finally} talking down the Valentines decor and move into some St. Patricks/Easter/Spring decor/crafts. {ALSO March is National Craft Month!!} We are finally starting to build a collection of decor for seasons it's pretty awesome.. I know as humans we spend the first part of our lives collecting things and then the end of our lives purging things lol {generally} But I'm excited about it. Hoping to find a lot of cool crafts little man and I can do. I have started a to-do/goal list for March BECAUSE I do not do New Year's Resolutions. I have a hard enough time staying with a basic routine so I know that personally, a goal/change for a whole year is not my style.. I get much more accomplished if I simply make some monthly goals.. I got most of my February goals done.. I say most because I always pile my plate as full as possible and life happens and sometimes you just don't get every single last thing done, but that's okay... saves some things for later and it's helping me on my journey of ditching the idea of perfection. I do love the sense of accomplishment I get from achieving my goals however, if I'm unable to complete everything I'm okay with that.. my happiness can not hinder on my ability to complete goals.. it must live within me on it's own.. and I am working on this every single day =) #EnjoyLife Goals for March: IDEALLY I want to make goals for each of these areas.. I think I'm going to have to work on this further... I actually just got myself a cute little notebook so I can start writing to myself... I know, sounds weird.. but I don't mind my weirdness.. it makes me.. me. So these are the areas in which I would like to set some goals.. or at least define my current situation.. that's the 1st step.. defining the situation THEN writing the changes I wish to make or goals I wish to obtain.. I'm actually not even going to list my goals right now... But here are the catergories in case you are interested in setting some goals! I found this chart with these listed and it seemed to make sense to me.. plus I love catergories.. lol. Social Spiritual Financial Physical Intellectual Career Family Since March is National Craft Month I think I need to go ahead and break out the sewing machine.. I'm a bit intimidated.. since it's been about 10 years but if I don't get moving it's going to be another 10 years before I know it and that is... unacceptable!! The name of the game of life is #nofear after all so I need to get that started because I know once I refresh myself on sewing again I will laugh at myself for not doing it sooner =) Also with a new month comes new coupons!! I still have my coupon blog up with all the resources I use for getting the coupons I need!! If you wish you can check it out HERE! Yup definitely need to start couponing again.. my printer is inked up and ready to roll!! I definitely want to start finding some time to play the piano again and read sheet music.. I always start to do it but then get interrupted with a million other things.. my biggest goal right now is laying out my game plan.. Going to start on that asap. So that is all for now... It's been a very busy Monday for sure!! Looking forward to a chill and rainy rest of the week!! Just what I need!! Thanks for stopping by! Much love all. VintageModMom Good morning!! Hope everyone is doing well on this Monday morning! I know Monday's can be a drag BUT I'm feeling pretty good!! I have really been focusing on self esteem and worth lately. Trying to fill my personal cup so that I am able to give to everyone around me. I'm on a journey of happiness and health.. positivity.. love.. just general life enjoyment!! It's not an easy task.. it has to be created.. it does exist but so does all the negative energy that seems so much easier to slip into. So for today I have done an I AM exercise. Affirmations and defining yourself is so important.. because the words you put after I AM truly define you.. and whatever you say after those 2 words you will start to believe.. So be sure and speak nicely to yourself!!! I actually had to get the dictionary out to finish this exercise but that's actually not a complaint for me lol I love the opportunity to learn some new words.. and I did!! Xenial means.. hospitable.. (from Greek and New Latin) And also Zest actually means to enhance enjoyment.. I was kind of surprised by this one because when I think of zest I think of... food lol Or "Zestfully clean" which now tends to make not a whole lot of sense to me LOL. ANYWAY On with the sharing of awesomeness that I have created. I am truly proud of myself for finding 26 positive ways to describe myself and not to be vain or anything but I could probably do more... sometimes it was difficult to choose which adjective to use haha. But that's great!! If I'm at my full level of awesomeness then that means I have plenty to offer to those around me and that's what it's all about!! So I guess I'm a little nervous about bearing my soul to the social media world here but you know what my husband says? (No guilt, no fear, no shame) < the key to a happy life. So far it's opening doors. I would love to go on about how amazing my hubby is but that shall have to wait for another post.. just take my word for it for now haha ;) WITHOUT FURTHER ADO: WOOT!!
There we are. Now, the trick is.. you pick words that you either feel you are.. or that you WISH to be.. Even if you don't believe it right now.. you will. Display it somewhere that you can go over it everyday... It will only take a few seconds but the impact will be great!! You are reprogramming your thoughts about yourself!! If I can do this... I know others are capable.. If you have been following I always say that I was one of the most negative people in the whole galaxy.. most likely.. haha.. But my perspective and thoughts are starting to change and with it my life.. Our lives.. (hubby and I) So I guarantee you as silly or as pointless or whatever negative feeling you wish to have towards this I promise you that's just your fear speaking... THIS IS AMAZING. It is truly transforming me and I hope that I can be an inspiration for others to transform themselves!!! Alrighty folks well Monday calls and I have things to accomplish!! I hope you enjoyed my post today please show me some love!! Comment, Email, I'm also on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Follow me to keep up with the latest!! Much love all!! VintageModMom Woot hey pretty lady!! Haha. I had someone tell me that I looked like "a little japanese lady" ..... That never crossed my mind but ALRIGHTY THEN. lol. I slept well.. be sure to choose a headband that is comfy.. but tight enough to hold your hair at the same time.. I did take a video of the unveiling but I'm having a hard time posting it here... It was hard enough just to get it posted to my FB page.. when I uploaded it from my phone .. Windows Media Player decided it should be sideways... No idea why... but it can't be fixed. Hopefully I can find a better way in the future BUT if you wish to see the unveiling you can do so RIGHT HERE! Annnnnd since everyone {my BFF haha} was getting antsy I snapped a quick "after" photo.. please be warned... there is no filter on this one!! *gasp* LOL. So view with caution haha. So what do you think? Not too shabby after just sleeping all night haha.. In the future I will play around with the tension and sections to see what kind of different results I can get.. maybe even get enough different ones to do another post! Woot! Wouldn't that be exciting!?! LOL. Anyway. Hope you enjoyed the headband curls and if you tried them out please share your before and afters!!! Definitely a recommended quick hack if you need to go somewhere early in the AM!! Or for any new mommas who just don't have the time to spend on a fancy hair do. Hope you all have a fantastic day!! Much love all VintageModMom What is up everyone?
So has anyone tried out this headband curl trend? My BFF {positive partner woot!} was raving about it and said that it is an absolute must try!!! Apparently her daughter does them every night before school.. smart girl!! ;) *sigh* Fine BFF let's do this then. lol. So last night was hair wash night so I washed my hair.. and DRIED it. I know right.. I did actually dry my hair before wrapping it up in the headband.. I hate sleeping with my hair wet anyway and BFF said it's done dry so... alrighty then game on! So at first I tried to use one of my crochet headbands but they are mostly made for decoration and they were not up to the task.. too loose.. So I pulled out the ol'faithful.. The look is going to change depending on which way you twist your hair and how big your sections are. My sections were about an inch thick and I twisted it away from my face.. So you take a section, twist it the preferred direction and stuff it in the headband.. Not too difficult.. takes a few minutes.. the first time may take you longer.. it did for me because I said headband quality issues haha... But once I got it done it was comfortable.. I slept fine.. And the next AM: |
