Happy October!! It sure is feeling like fall today right on time! Cold front came through last night it's dreary, misty and foggy this morning with a high of 71 today... that's pretty good for Alabama.. But I am loving it.. even though everything is soaking, dripping wet, the leaves are changing already and some are already falling! I really really want to go for a little walk and get some photos of the trees... I love admiring the changing leaves.. and they make such pretty pictures! There's lots of awesome things happening... October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pizza Month and Fair Trade Month.

So I've been doing this new thing with Wifey Wednesdays and I love it!
It's actually really nice. I think my hubby enjoys it too =) Speaking of my hubby. That's what today is all about! The little things that make a big difference!! Simply showing you care. My husband ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS considers me. He is freaking amazing at it. No joke In my opinion society in general has everything so backwards.
It's crazy to me the reaction I get when I speak well about my husband. As a society we are in a habit of just complaining about our husbands... Nagging. Which... women our overall persona isn't that great either... What is the deal? The stereotypes for wives and husbands are terrible. Happy September! #SapphirePrintables #Organizing #ChoosingLife #Goals #Planning #CelebrateToday9/1/2015 New month and also new season approacheth!!
Oh fall. How I love thee. How I'm so ready to get out my boots and scarves and beanies... I know I know... but I live in the South y'all... chances are slim that we're going to be covered in snow and ice... Well it's not my fault you live somewhere that has winterocolypses so don't blame me haha. Welcome loves!
So I have been getting in the habit of doing Wifey Wednesdays and I am really enjoying it!
Monday is coming again and I'm already feeling the dread but here are 5 ways to help you get organized and feel more prepared for the week ahead! What else can be done to help prepare for the week?
As for me I'm also finishing any laundry that needs to be done, pre-packing and preparing what I can for lunches for my son (kindergarten) and my husband for the week, making sure the kitchen is cleaned and ready for the morning rush! I also already put gas in the car so I can be prepared to take and pick up my son from school and run any other errands throughout the week. I hope these tips help you have a successful week! Thanks for stopping by! VintageModMom Holy snap it's August!
Well I'm not going to lie. I have been super unproductive this weekend. It does happen after all. I guess really I've only been unproductive by my own standards... I tried all weekend to get my gears turning but it was like there was no one home lol. I don't know why but sometimes my brain just doesn't work at all... I try to put thoughts together and inspire myself but it just didn't happen.. I stared at blank screens... but it is what it is. I figure this means that I am just burned out AND my kid is about to start school so maybe I actually need the rest. ANYWAY. Let's talk about August! So AUGUST is Golf Month! I can't believe that August is only National Golf Month you'd think they'd have something for back to school I don't know.. just seems pretty boring if you ask me haha but that's all I could find on that. But I love finding little ways to #CelebrateToday so let's see what else we can find! Some of the "National Days" coming up are as follows: 3rd: Watermelon Day 6th: Root Beer Float Day 8th: Happiness Happens Day 10th: Smore's Day 12th: Middle Child's Day 13th: Left-Handers Day 14th: Creamcicle Day 17th: Thrift Shop Day 20th: Lemonade Day AND Chocolate Pecan Pie Day 21st: Spumoni Day AND Poet's Day 25th: Kiss and Make Up Day 26th: Women's Equality Day 27th: Burger Day 28th: Bow Tie Day 30th: Toasted Marshmallow Day 31st: Trail Mix Day So these are kinda just my favs, there are more and you can find the full breakdown HERE. Oh weekend...
You come with such excitement and fizzle out so quickly. That's the problem with hinging your happiness on the weekend. Yes the weekend is great! But you have 5 other days you have to endure to get there. I know I hear it all the time... "but you're a stay at home mom.. and your son is about to start Kindergarden so you're soon going to be a glorified housewife/homemaker what do you care about Monday?" Haha. Yup. Very true. I don't have to deal with the morning rush of getting ready and the hustle and bustle of going out to the door to some destination (unless it's grocery day or I have an appt) and I have one of the few jobs where naps are permitted but I did used to work. A lot. And now I run a family and household. I'd say it's a promotion... and with promotion comes more responsibility. In my household I am the first one up in the morning... I get my household going. I fix breakfast.. make lunches (or finish from the night before).. make coffee.. etc. Usually I start some chores. The point is my work day starts pretty much when I get up just like anyone else's really... So. I prepare for Monday and for the week.. because it's my job to make sure my family is prepared! If I'm running around like a crazy person and stressing about miscellanous lost or unclean items it will make a horrible morning and possibly day for everyone. I am in chare of the home thus I have to set the tone. In the past few years I have become quite the motivational guru lol I can pretty much psych myself up for anything.. as well as any others who are in my company. It's become an annoying (maybe) but effective and happier method of handling life. Okay so where is this post going. lol. Oh yes okay preparation for Monday.. My weekend is possibly so short because Sunday is really our first work day. I know Sunday is supposed to be the day of rest etc... Well in this household we have our Sabbath on Saturdays. This also takes some of the stress off of Monday. I know why on earth would I want to cut my mini break from life short?? Well. It creates more happiness than it destroys. Plus one of the many keys to enjoying life is organization/preparation for the future. Choosing/Intending life vs waiting for life to happen to you. Action vs Reaction. My weeks aren't perfect. I still find that my work load is heaviest on Monday and then tends to decrease everyday until Friday when I basically don't have much going on. I need to focus on having a more balanced week. I suppose there is no greater time than the present. Yes it's a gift oh the cliche's. Something I have shifted to doing monthly... This has also taken some of the stress of off my weekend and preparing for Monday. For example I have started planning my weekly menu's for the whole month so that way it's already done. I usually start planning the next month 2 weeks into my month or along the way etc.. This way I always have a dinner plan and making a grocery list when it's time has become a much simpler task as well.. I already have meals planned and then all I have to do is make my list and maybe switch a few things out according to what's on sale. It's great. So now all I have to do Sunday night to prep meals for the week is switch the menu on the fridge! (I do them weekly) {Sometimes I just jot them down on notebook paper and sometimes I use my own print outs - right now I'm out of printer paper) Without further babble here's a list of things to Make a Magnificent Monday! Whichever way you decide to do it 1.planning your menu for the week is a great way to get ahead! Having clean clothes on Monday Morning is definitely a stress reducer so be sure to 2. finish and put away all the laundry. Getting it all put away will only take a few minutes but save you precious time rummaging through closets and dryers in the morning. To make this deal even sweeter go ahead and 3.Pick out your wardrobe the night before this will save you from having to make that kind of decision first thing in the morning lol and if you're afraid you may wake up and have a change of heart than pick out 3 outfits or go ahead and do it for the week... maybe you decide to switch up the days but you will have outfits ready to go. Just get dressed. I am a coffee drinker. So 4.Have coffee ready in the morning. My coffee pot even has a timer/alarm thingy so my coffee is ready when I get out of bed. That's motivational. I am a list freak and I like to always try to be aware of what is going on so I always 5.Make a to do list on Sunday night. I like to go through my calendar see if I have anything that maybe I forgot about.. it does happen and it gives me a glance into my week. Also take the time to refer to your menu maybe you're making something that needs prep or needs to go in the crock pot or needs to be thawed or soaked etc! Be sure to get that on your to-do list!! A lot of thes things are pretty basic.. at this point I have adapted them into everyday routines. I do all of this stuff everyday to ensure that my days in general run smoother... and they do! Only you know what your schdule is like though... I find a lot of times when I go looking for articles and ways that other people do things I find good ideas but I end up having to adapt other things to make it fit into my lifestyle.. and that's basically all I'm offering is just a perspective on what things I do to prepare... If you're finding that this is doesn't fit and you're not sure how to organize and make life easier start with a master list of things you need to do. Just go ahead and write them all down. What can you start doing ahead of time or maybe something can be shifted to a "better" time? I have shifted my schedule many times to better fit our schedules.. Or. Make an evening list of everything to gather/do the night before so you are ready in the morning... things go so much more smoothly when you're prepared it's like clockwork and can leave you feeling refreshed vs drained before you even get out the door... Find a way to make things easier on yourself. Focus on solutions. If you find you're always misplacing your phone or your keys or you're forgetting about laundry or dinner... Then it's time to focus on a solution. Well this has become quite a lengthy post.. I have tried to "highlight" the key pieces.. for those of you who have something against reading ;) haha. Hope you enjoyed it and I hope you find a way to enjoy your Monday and the days that follow!! Leave me a comment. Let me know. What are you doing to make your life easier? Until next time. Much love. VintageModMom What is up wonderful people?! Well I said I would be posting more blah blah so here we go... So things have been okay but not as super great as they should be going... Hubby and I have been brainstorming and we have both decided that we are truly ready to quit smoking... we have la-de-da tried to cut down in the past etc.. which in all truthness I have cut down to about 6 a day... or I can make a pack last about 3 days... Not great but not smoking 2 packs a day either... Hubby is the heavier smoker but he has been researching this vape scene.. seems everyone is switching to the vapes.. yes there is still nicotine but they also make them nicotine free where it's just vapor. Anywho hubby did extensive research and found the one he wanted. Well he finally got it yesterday and HE LOVES IT. Thank goodness!!! We are both so excited to start this journey!! I know for certain that I am.. It makes me happy when I think about not being a cigarette smoker. I can tell you though that I wasn't sure this day would come. Since the day I started smoking many many years ago I have always LOVED smoking... Idk why... possibly because it's an addiction... but other people were addicted and still hated it.. I loved it.. I did quit while I was pregnant... it was easy to do because smoking actually made me sick.. so giving them up during pregnancy was a breeze.. but of course like a good little smoker I picked it right back up after having my son. So fast forward 5 years later... When we moved into this house in October we both decided we were going to move on to ecigs or vapes and be done with cigarettes.. However.. here it is 9 months later and we pretty much forgot that we made that little deal with ourselves... but I can assure you that our wallets have noticed... After doing the math we have been spending about $300/month on CIGARETTES. I know right... that is ridiculous!! Uhhh here take my money and help me die faster... So I have finally decided deep inside myself that I am ready. (And anything you put after the words "I am" is a pretty powerful thing) I have no more love for this habit or the money that it's costing me to basically dig my own grave. This is the first time that I have EVER publicly announced that I was going to quit smoking... I never felt the need to before because I guess I knew that I wasn't too terribly serious and I wasn't ready for all the pressure... but now when I think about I don't feel pressured... I have never really had this feeling of doneness with cigarettes before so I am very excited to be moving on. I'm excited for our future. For our health. For our wallets. The way we have done this is that hubby got his vaporizer first. He has done extensive research and talked to coworkers etc.. tried out some demos.. So he has purchased a vaporizer that he loves.. Now to find myself something. I tried his out but I don't really know if it's quite my thing. However it is much nicer than smoking a cigarette... A lot of people try switching to vapes and find that they "don't work" for them or they "don't like" them but believe it or not it's not like smoking a cigarette... It's a different sensation and you actually have to kinda relearn how to smoke.. But I have figured it out using hubby's and it is much better, tastier, smoother, safer than smoking cigarettes... He bought a box... I kinda think I want a vape pen of some kind.. Either way I will be getting mine next. Hubby is the heavier smoker so with him quitting my habit will only further deplete. I have been doing some research and checking out some reviews and I think I have decided which one I want!!! Yay!!! Going to have hubby check it out with me since he has been doing much more research than I... but I think this is going to be the one. Looks like I will be getting mine this weekend... YAY. Audios cigarettes! Well folks this has already been a somewhat lengthy post BUUUT.... I'm excited and you know what... I'm long-winded... Can't be helped... I keep trying to tone myself down but it is what it is. I think I will keep this part of our journey updated especially since I have friends and family too.. that I want to come to the bright side of vaping with me and kick the cigarettes.. Your pocket.. and your health will thank you... Anywho there are some links below if you're interested in some resources or want to know what we ended up with.. so far I can only link to the box that hubby purchased since I don't have mine yet but I will also link to the ones I'm looking at purchasing.. And here are also some great videos and reviews to check out if you want more information! Please hit me up via social media of your choice or comment here.. send an email.. And I will get back to you! Much love and thanks for hanging out! She also has a video on the proper way to use the vapes (inhaling and exhaling) and also has tons of reviews! And here is also a short video from the "Doctors" about ecigs and vaping...
